Currently we run a single HAProxy instance on prod10 which distributes requests to the least connected server serving MediaWiki. ElasticSearch runs on the server (for now) for search indexing the MediaWiki wikis. Currently only allthetropeswiki and extloadwiki have search indexes stored on prod10 and actively use them for search. HAProxy is also used to terminate SSL requests between MediaWiki servers and the load balancer. As a result, this means all requests to Orain-DNS-managed domains are encrypted when they communicate with prod10 but it de-encrypts them via the Private IP of the MediaWiki servers and then re-encrypts the response.
