The problem happened last month and it used to shut down Orain for days. It's many more extensions than this actually. There's embedvideo and there's what allthetropes uses on its article pages for a menu. I believe there's more. The adminstrators of Orain other than Addshore tried to fix it and could not so they disabled all the extensions. July 4, Addshore came in and fixed it, which lasted a day and then Orain started going down so I emailed him. Addshore, being the skilled technical person he is, fixed it so it permanently would never have Orain go down. He set it so the MWExceptions now get written into a logfile [https://github.com/Orain/mediawiki-core/commit/f1e5359d06f8186d05902e0ea6aad71d4a1f9558] so now Orain never went down from this again. (Wikia does the same thing [https://github.com/Wikia/app/blob/dev/includes/MagicWord.php#L293]). The extention error wasn't fixed, just the issue of Orain going down completely. There appears to be a conflict between multiple extensions or god knows what because when the error occurs, all the extensions I mentioned stop working like they're disabled, but nobody disables them. An hour later, they work again. Addshore has not replied to emails since July 10 and the issue has remained as is. Addshore is a brillian technical person it seems (I thought so since I read [http://addshore.com/2015/05/ddos-of-orain/ this entry on his blog]) but the issue still continues. Embedvideo itself is nothing more than some basic HTML code and it literally just needs a simple template with pure HTML that copies the exact code with a variable for the video and title and it would work the same -- the extension itself however appears to not cache its work for more than an hour and one option is replacing it with a pure HTML template (just copy the HTML code for each video site, likely only YouTube, and a Steward with permissions can make a pure HTML template). However invoking it while similar to invoking a template uses "#ev:youtube" and starting a template title with a "#" character is not allowed, though a template "ev:youtube" is allowed. Or perhaps Addshore or somebody can fix the extension issues permanently. It sounds like near the end of June an extension was either added or updated and multiple are conflicting.
