Make sure to sign using only the four tildes, without the code or nowiki tags. To get your logo changed, just tell me the the new logo's Commons filename. For embedding, use the youtube tag. Kudu (talk) 22:41, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Tyreek! I've given you the Bureaucrat and Administrator flag locally. Your wiki does have single sign on currently - would you like it to not be? I'm sure one of our sysadmins could get that figured out - however, it does make things a bit tricky. We generally find people prefer SSO as it makes accounts much easier to handle. Ah I will love to have log in to edit enabled, btw I came here because for some reason on my last wiki farm the staff member hasnt been active to reply to my messages yet, so I just decided to leave and join here! But anywho I find this uses 1.20.0 and or higher, which is ok with me but is there also a way my wiki could uh what you call it, oh the 1.19 version, I just dont like the sidebar of the 1.19.3 and up.--Tyreek (talk) 23:20, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure if we're able to downgrade the wikis - as globally they're kept the same. You can actually edit the sidebar though to be how you want it to be. Checkout mediawiki:Manual:Interface/Sidebar to see how you can edit it and change it's look. I've passed off the require login push to a sysadmin who should put that through shortly. Now that testing has been completed, I'd like to re-purpose this wiki for use by bot owners at Orain, whether single-site bots or global bots. The wiki would be used to document each bots inner workings and scripts, and to host the task requests and the logs related to the bots. There could be additional namespaces for Bot: and Bot_talk: (which would function similar to User: and User_talk: but for bots instead of regular users), Script: and Script_talk: (for documenting and discussing particular bot scripts), and Framework: and Framework_talk: for information pertaining to a particular bot framework, such as Pywikipediabot, AddWiki, Peachy, etc. I would like Administrator/Bureaucrat permissions on this wiki, and I would invite the Orain Stewards to oversee activity on the wiki, as managing a bot on any Orain wiki is no doubt of great interest to those who run Orain itself.

Also, as this wiki is specifically about bots that are being run on Orain wikis, can I get permission to incorporate the Orain logo as part of the BotWiki logo? Discussion

  • Oppose for two reasons. Firstly the name "fanon" is too vague, and could relate to a variety of different fandoms. I guess there is some sort of "first in first served" policy for wiki names here at Orain, but I wouldn't like to see "camping" becoming a common occurrence here. Secondly, there are several Club Penguin related wikis on TropicalWikis that are likely to be migrated to the Orain wiki farm as part of the merger process. I don't know when that is going to happen, and whether such an existing wiki would be appropriate as an alternative to this request, so this is only a "minor oppose" really. Oppose Support Similar to my objection above about the name "fanon", the name "nationstates" is too generic and could be confusing. Would it not not be better to have a wiki under the name of your specific nation? Might I suggest also looking at The Encyclopedia National which is already a wiki on Orain, and is listed as being "a free internet encyclopedia for the purpose of secessionist movements and governments in exile." Ahem!!! The Encyclopedia National is for real countries and not some petty cyber internet nation stuff. My misunderstanding stems from having recently read the Wikipedia article about Micronations, and in particular the following statement, which I must have mis-appropriately applied in this situation: "The advent of the Internet provided the means for people to create many new micronations, whose members are scattered all over the world and interact mostly by electronic means, often calling their nations Nomadic Countries. The differences between such Internet micronations, other kinds of social networking groups, and role playing games are often hard to define." Again, my apologies for getting this wrong.

This type of request is generally put on the Request features page. You're right, you won't find a way to add the logo yourself. It needs to be added using the $wgLogo variable in the LocalSettings.php file for your wiki, which, on an Orain hosted wiki, can only be accessed by a global Steward and is processed using a GIT push.
