Out of curiosity what web hosting service is Orain using? Does it allow unlimited bandwidth?

What is the total number of gigabytes of storage that the web hosting service currently provides for Orain? I mean the total for all wikis combined. I have a wiki on another wiki farm with around half a gigabyte of low-res images that are integral to the many articles on the wiki.

I have been doing some reading, and found some interesting info. I found this article comparing Bluehost and 1and1. I have no idea if it is accurate or not.

1and1 is not clear at all about their bandwidth:

On the other hand Bluehost seems to be very clear:

Here are some user reviews:

I am a newb at all this, and since this is a general discussion forum, I would like to get feedback from the many experts that may drop in. I have been reading how "unlimited" is a marketing term, and much depends on the fine print (such as metered and unmetered). Here is info on VPS hosting: Wikipedia: Virtual private server.

Here is a page comparing PHP (Mediawiki, etc.) web hosts:

Orain is using a VPS from RamNode located in Seattle, Washington. We have plenty of storage available. --Tux (talk) 19:54, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. This looks interesting: "1Gbps Port. Our VPS nodes are connected to the Internet at 1Gbps. Not only do we offer generous amounts of bandwidth, but you can transfer files super fast!" I am on a 20 Mbps pipe for my home broadband. So I guess 1Gbps means a lot of people could hit Orain hard at any time, and not slow down Orain much if at all.
I looked at some of their offerings. Are the bandwidth numbers monthly or yearly or? --Timeshifter (talk) 17:57, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Timeshifter,
1and1 and Bluehost all are okay providers, but they are reserved for small, personal sites. I'm personally thinking of taking MyWikis to a colocation facility. :) --Jeff (talk) (contribs) 14:08, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
I had to look that up: Wikipedia: Colocation centre. --Timeshifter (talk) 19:15, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
Like Jeff said, Bluehost and 1and1 are more basic shared providers. We run our own VPS. We have 2 TB of data usage per month IIRC. The uplink is also very fast (1Gbps). Kudu (talk) 14:29, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
I found one of RamNode's 2TB monthly (I assume) VPS plans here:
https://clientarea.ramnode.com/cart.php?gid=16 - drag pointer to "512MB CKVM-E5".
This looks interesting: "Optional DDoS Protection". Wikipedia: DDoS#Distributed attack.
RamNode's VPS options:
https://clientarea.ramnode.com/cart.php?carttpl=vps - see What is the difference between SSD and SSD-Cached? --Timeshifter (talk) 19:15, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
Orain uses 512mb OpenVZ SSD-Cached from RamNode. --Jeff (talk) (contribs) 19:26, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
I guess this is it:
https://clientarea.ramnode.com/cart.php?gid=15 - Pricing is weird though. It goes down as the pointer is dragged to the right, and then starts going up. Probably a formatting mistake? --Timeshifter (talk) 19:34, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
The pricing also includes time intervals. --Jeff (talk) (contribs) 19:50, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
OK, I now see the annually, quarterly, and monthly info below the price. --Timeshifter (talk) 19:55, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
