Requests for global rollbacker permissions

Southparkfan@global

I want to be a global rollbacker because I want to fight vandalism on other(, inactive) wiki's. I will try to answer questions. :) Kind regards, Southparkfan (talk) 17:20, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

  •   Note: Global edit count is 44 - user's global account is complete. Dusti*Let's talk!* 18:28, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
  •   Oppose Obvious reasons for opposing but I guess since I said this would never be a voting area, I'll explain. The only pretty much on has edits at TestWiki. Therefore failing #1 'You have sufficient cross-wiki activity to allow the community to analyse them;'. I believe this could be a speedy close but for the sake of being fair, I'll let others comment. John (talk) 20:31, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
    •   Support I guess. John (talk) 21:15, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
  •   Support though his edits may be constricted to one area, I don't see any problematic behavior. I wouldn't expect him to be highly active on every wiki - as they're each a niche and thus not everyone is going to have something to add. Dusti*Let's talk!* 20:57, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Support: this is appropriate for anti-vandalism. Technical 13 (talk) 21:28, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
  •   Support for CVN measures. TCN7JM 13:43, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
  •   Support Addshore (talk) 14:37, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
  •   Done While I did say this should be open for three days, we have a case where majority support exists (discounting my vote, above 100%). A majority of the community as well as stewards have put in their input, while not a vote there does not seem to be any major problem. If anyone wishes to oppose this, best to re-file stating a removal or bring it up at Stewards' noticeboard. John (talk) 15:20, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

I have been fighting against vandal in some WMF wikis and I think I can fight against vandals with these experiments. Thank you. by 레비ReviDiscussWMF wikis at 17:11, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Jianhui67@global

Hi there stewards! I would want to be a global rollbacker so as to fight vandalism on Orain Wikis. I have been fighting vandalism in WMF and Wikia wikis. I believe I would do well with global rollback here. I know I only have 44 global edits. I'll try to become active here. Thanks! Jianhui67 (talk) 05:40, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

I trust him. He seems like he knows what he's doing, and he clearly knows how to revert vandalism. TCN7JM 04:47, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Well, here almost has no vandal, but if I have another mates can help reverting, that's not bad. --레비ReviDCM 07:14, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Support I support this request, and if no objections are raised, will close it today. -- Joe G. (Talk) 16:49, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Done Consensus shown above. Be careful with the new tools globally. John (talk) 20:33, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Cyberpower678@global

Hi. I would like to attach the global rollback toolkit to my account as it will definitely become useful in the future. I'm currently an admin of meta.orain.org and am also have rollback on Wikipedia, non of which were revoked at any time for any reason.—cyberpower OfflineBe my Valentine 22:28, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Support I actually don't really mind Cyberpower678 to only be active in Meta. But if he can become more active on other Orain Wikis, then that would be better. Jianhui67 talk 23:09, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
Oppose Notwithstanding the user's obvious competence, he has not demonstrated a need for the right. Kudu (talk) 02:44, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
Oppose On the grounds of not showing a real need for the right at this time. In the future, if you encounter a routine need for this right, I'd encourage you to re-request then. (But it's not my decision) -- Joe G. (Talk) 00:14, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Josse.Cottenier@global

I want to have an global rollback bit, for revert fast on all wiki's.  Josse.Cottenier - (Overleg | Bijdragen 12:11, 7 June 2014 (BST)

  Oppose — I don't see any counter-vandalism work by him recently. — ReviComplaint? 12:13, 7 June 2014 (BST)
Neutral - Awaiting answer(s) on questions. 1) How active do you think you will be when having GR (Global Rollback)? 2) Can you explain your need for Global Rollback? 3) Is there in your eyes much vandalism that six global rollbackers (well, 2 are really active, Revi and me, and John is also active with steward rights and thus the ability to rollback on every wiki, like global rollbackers) aren't enough to deal with that vandalism? Southparkfan (talk) 12:37, 7 June 2014 (BST) Moved to oppose
Neutral per Revi. Jianhui67 talk 14:29, 7 June 2014 (BST)
Support - It's not a harmful or dangerous bit for the most part, and I've seen enough of Josse to know that he isn't going to misuse it. The more people available to deal with vandalism, however small of a problem it may be, the better in my opinion. -- Joe G. (Talk) 14:54, 7 June 2014 (BST)
Strong oppose - Not experienced enough and no crosswiki activity (except his own wiki and the wikis of his friends where he is already an admin) and he sees wikis and Orain like a game - I don't think we can trust him with these tools. JurgenNL (talk) 15:57, 7 June 2014 (BST)
Oppose - I do no see you make revertions, and you only have 13 edits in Meta. Dragneel (talk) 16:18, 7 June 2014 (BST)
Strong oppose - A child who doesn't need global rollback at all. Gulftown (talk) 20:13, 7 June 2014 (BST)
Oppose - It seems Josse.Cottenier doesn't even take the time to answer simple questions. Southparkfan (talk) 11:23, 10 June 2014 (BST)
This request should already be closed. There is a clear consensus that Josse cannot receive global rollback right now. Jianhui67 talk 16:25, 10 June 2014 (BST)
  •   Request denied Consensus at this time is against the addition of global rollback for this user.—cyberpower ChatOnline 17:15, 10 June 2014 (BST)
    • While not a vote, there seems to be no real need for the tool anyway so confirmed as a steward. John (talk) 17:19, 10 June 2014 (BST)

Requests for global sysop permissions

Southparkfan@global

I want to be a global sysop because I want to fight vandalism on other(, inactive) wiki's. There a just two global sysops and for 10 wiki's I think more sysops are better. I'm also a sysop & bureaucrat on TestWiki. I will try to answer questions. :) Kind regards, Southparkfan (talk) 17:20, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

  •   Note: Global edits are 44 - user's global account is complete. Dusti*Let's talk!* 18:28, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
  •   Oppose Per my comments on the GR request. John (talk) 20:34, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Oppose: This is overkill without some substantial activity to support it. Technical 13 (talk) 21:28, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

  • Can I withdrawn only this request? Southparkfan (talk) 22:09, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Shanmugamp7@global

Since I like things to be done by consensus (most of the time, when necessary of course), I am making probably the first consensus based 'Steward recommendation' which is Shanmugamp7. Those who actually look at Meta RC will see I have now promoted Shan to admin on two wikis for sysops related tasks which are not controversial (the allthetropeswiki one went through local admins, I removed it once they finished). Since I feel they will make great use of the tools, benefiting Orain and we act on consensus, I am asking the community to trust them with the right. For information; they are most active on Wikimedia where they hold sysop on two projects as well as global rollback and global sysop permissions. John (talk) 16:47, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

I accept. I will use the rights only to do non-controversial things if granted Shanmugamp7 (talk) 16:51, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Support Seems okay to promote. I trust John's judgement. Regards, — David 17:04, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

TBloemink@global

I'd like to be a GS so I can watch over wiki's and take action where needed. I am a WMF steward so of course experienced with buttons. Thank you. TBloemink (talk) 23:01, 24 May 2014 (BST)

  •   Support Trusted but please be active. Jianhui67 talk 03:20, 25 May 2014 (BST)
  •   Support - We've global sysops who are more inactive. Southparkfan (talk) 10:58, 25 May 2014 (BST)
  •   Oppose too low activity. Not now. — ReviComplaint? 11:32, 25 May 2014 (BST)
  •   Neutral - While I know you know how to use the tools, I'd like to see some demonstration of knowledge of the community and policies of Orain. We don't really have a pressing need for new GS at this time, so allowing you to get some more experience shouldn't be detrimental. I would welcome you to re-apply in a few weeks or a month once you have some more edits and knowledge of Orain; then you would be a great candidate! -- Joe G. (Talk) 17:32, 26 May 2014 (BST)
  •   Support No big deal. eikes (talk) 22:43, 28 May 2014 (BST)
  •   Support Trusted, of course!  Josse.Cottenier - (Overleg | Bijdragen 06:24, 29 May 2014 (BST)
There seems to be consensus above. Echoing what Revi said, this is on the grounds that TBloemink becomes more active. John (talk) 23:05, 29 May 2014 (BST)

Revi@global

I would like to be GS, to help wikis without much active admins. I have been one of the most active GR since mid-2013, one of the most active meta admin since Nov 2013. I am also admin on Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and Korean Wikinews, so I know when to use the tools. Thanks, — ReviComplaint? 16:32, 28 May 2014 (BST)

Agent Isai@global

Hello! I would like to be a global sysop to help admins and bureaucrats on other wikis fight evil and spam, I wouldn't abuse power at all (either way I'll get demoted if I do that) and I won't take drastic actions (like blocking IPs) unless I'm authorized by buerocrats or admine of that wiki.  Agent Isai! Orain Rocks!   18:12, 22 September 2014 (BST)

  •   Oppose per what I said at Meta:Requests for permissions/Administrator/Agent Isai.--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:14, 22 September 2014 (BST)
    • Agent Isai also removed my comment, which is also bad wiki etiquette.--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:31, 22 September 2014 (BST)
  •   Oppose per Jasper, what I said there too, and recent conduct regarding other user's comments.—cyberpower ChatOnline 03:56, 25 September 2014 (BST)
  •   Oppose - I would suggest that you get some more experience here on meta and also focusing for some time on your newly-adopted wiki. Global Sysop is not a permission that is taken lightly and is generally only given out to experienced users. I would also like to see you get involved on other wikis before gaining a global permission. -- Joe G. (Talk) 03:35, 26 September 2014 (BST)

Southparkfan@global

Hi guys. I'm requesting global sysop access now. The last time, I see a mass attack of spam at multiple wikis. On Meta I can delete this (as a local sysop), but not on other wikis as I do not have sysop access there. At the moment, I can't do much more than only nominating spam. When I see Agent Isai's request above, and somewhere he is right, but he's not getting much support because of activity, not long a member of Orain yet, bad communication, no knowledge of Orain's processes, and more. But performing deletions, blocks, and whatever, is not the only reason I'm requesting this: I am known as a wiki creator here on Meta, and I'll need GS also in my line as Wiki Creator. I am checking wikis for inactivity (and lock these), and I must say that I need to work on this project again (and I really promise I will do), but I can't create/edit the sitenotices on those wikis. Closing wikis without leaving a sitenotice why it is closed, info about the adoption process, and related things, is probably not a good thing.

If I get GS, I can do all the needed things when doing my wiki creator work + do other general stuff on request. Please note that this is a general permissions request, and that I will use the rights for things outside my wiki creator or spam-deletion role but in the role as a Global Sysop (this can include blocks, RevDel and more - I want to make a notice of this so I didn't confuse you). I promise that I won't use the tools outside of situations where the tools are meant for, unless I got the permission of a local sysop to do so. I'm a proud member of Orain, and I really hope you trust me with these tools. If you have any questions, comments, other notes, you can leave them below. Southparkfan (talk) 19:46, 25 September 2014 (BST)

  • You understand that Global Sysops are not considered local sysops, and that the global tools should only be used when absolutely necessary (spam attacks, no local sysops, etc.) correct? Dusti*Let's talk!* 01:23, 26 September 2014 (BST)
From what I can see; that is all he is asking the permissions for. John (talk) 07:55, 26 September 2014 (BST)
Good question, and I think you probably want to notice me about this? If wikis want to manage their own business (and don't want to have Global Sysops there, they are free to opt-out themselves, create a policy (and of course I have to follow that), or in any way let the GS team know they don't have to/should do stuff there. Reasons for me to block/delete are spam (sure), perhaps obvious vandalism ("vandalism" (but in other kinds) is tolerated on testwiki, and probably a few others. That is a reason to better ignore that, as it only can cause problems with the community.), and if there is a request from a local sysop which asks me to do something, and gives the permission to do that, I'll be happy to help out there. For the wiki creator things: see below. Southparkfan (talk) 15:13, 26 September 2014 (BST)
  •   Question - Could you elaborate a little bit more on why you need GS to assist in your wikicreator duties? As far as I know, and it may have changed since I've been inactive-ish, but Wikicreators aren't actually responsible for handling locking wikis or anything else besides the actual creation of a wiki. I'm not opposed to them helping out with this in the slightest, but I'm not sure what the GS bits will actually do for your true wikicreator role. I would also like to make sure, along the lines of Dusti's question, that you understand that GS permissions are only to be used in an emergency in which no local sysop is available to act? That does not include handling any routine local requests through the appropriate local venue, routine deletions or blocks, et cetera. -- Joe G. (Talk) 03:50, 26 September 2014 (BST)
Wikicreators have the ability to lock wikis and I encourage them to because I'm not doing it and no one else seems interested in actively doing it. The policy is when locking; create MediaWiki:Sitenotice, which SPF is the only wikicreator who is not able to as Revi is a GS. John (talk) 07:55, 26 September 2014 (BST)
Wikicreator: There is no requirement to monitor the activity of wikis, but I've been asked to get through a list of wikis, like you did in 2013. In fact, I've closed a few, leaving the known notices on the Main Page (which sometimes is editprotected). There's no global editinterface (if there's one, that would be also okay for me), so therefore GS seems the only option. GS: see above. Southparkfan (talk) 15:13, 26 September 2014 (BST)
  •   Oppose Dragneel (talk) 21:55, 26 September 2014 (BST) In my opinion is not ready for it
Could you please clarify why? As this is not a vote, without a rationale your oppose will not be taken into account when closing. John (talk) 22:09, 26 September 2014 (BST)
Done, thank you for the notification. Dragneel (talk) 01:33, 27 September 2014 (BST)
  • Hi Dragneel, can you please explain me why I am not ready for this yet? You are not required to explain it me, but your current description is too short that I can do something with it. Southparkfan (talk) 14:50, 29 September 2014 (BST)

After reviewing the single unexplained oppose, and after internal discussion, I see no reason not to promote @Southparkfan:. Congratulations. Dusti*Let's talk!* 21:14, 29 September 2014 (BST)

Dusti: thanks. For the rest, I would like to thank you for your votes, comments, etc. I will use the tools wisely. Southparkfan (talk) 21:26, 29 September 2014 (BST)
