    • NOTICE: This is Kaiveran, a local Bureaucrat/Admin on the Entanma Project Wiki. I was not aware of the activity deadline, had a lot of things distracting me at the end of the year, and things got hectic for me after the holiday season due to school and family trouble; I thought the usual cadre of users would have still been around but it appears they dropped out as well (and a spambot attack took place in the meantime). That is not the issue though. The issue is that the user attempting to adopt the wiki (ICB-Penguin) is NOT registered locally at the wiki and thus cannot possibly have the rights described here, so I fear this adoption may be taking place under false pretenses. Most of my antivandalism experience comes from Wikimedia. I don't have global rollback here yet, but I'm requesting global sysop in order to deal with the flood of spam the wiki receives in the hours from 04:00:00 to about 09:00:00 UTC, when no other global sysops appear to be active. I am well-aware of the policies regarding global sysops however: global sysops may not action in lieu of local administrators unless the local community explicitly requests it. Usually it is not reverts I see needing to be done, but rather blocks and deletions of spambots and spam (respectively).--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:58, 2 November 2014 (GMT)

  • Support - While I have to notice that Jasper's activity is low (I don't count edits on ircwiki as they are not related to "general Orain things"), I guess we could use him. The main reason I would appreciate your response is that I can help deal with spam; Arcane has already given me admin rights on MediaWiki Testers Wiki to fight off the spam that comes to that wiki; I could simply delete spam pages and block the spammer users as appropriate. I do that on not only Orain, but some other websites (such as EditThis.info), the trouble being that some of these wikis are too inactive so I can't get sysop attention. I have to remember to not act on a local wiki unless it is requested as such by the local community. (Note: If Arcane has asked me to fight spam on the wiki, is that a legit request, or does that mean I have to stop my spam-fighting activity on MWT just because they haven't said they need global sysop attention?)
