Your recent wiki request
Hi Slivicon, I just wanted to let you know that I have approved your recent wiki request. This wiki is now available for you to use. Check your wiki request for the appropriate URL (just in case we updated it). Also, I wanted to let you know that as the founder of the wiki, you will receive administrator and bureaucrat if you request them here. These rights are quite powerful, so be careful using them. If you want a place to test them out to see how they work, check out our TestWiki. And also, if you would like to add a feature/extension to your wiki please request it at Request features. Feel free to [{{fullurl:User_talk:imported>Slivicon|action=edit§ion=new}} leave me a message] if you have any questions. On behalf of the Staff, welcome to Orain! Your wikis administrator page
It appears that this page is almost completely copy pasted from wikias default "Project:Administrators" page. Correct me if I'm mistaken, and no ones complained about it, but this might require linking to wikia as the content may be under license there? Not sure tbh but I thought it sounded familiar and most of it is indeed copied. Also, the errors should be resolved (we're aware about the logo glitch tho because the playbook isn't running on prod9). -- Cheers, NDKilla ( Talk • Contribs ) 15:06, 21 July 2015 (BST)
- @NDKilla: I'll delete it and re-write it later. I imported the farming simulator wiki from wikia under creative commons, but am in the process of deleting all of the "Wikia" stuff that is not needed or wanted. --Slivicon (talk) 15:24, 21 July 2015 (BST)
- I just saw the import log :) it's not really a problem I guess but you should have mentioned where it was being imported from. Feel free to rewrite it if you want, or not. I won't delete the content and I hope this doesn't turn into another bad piggies situation. -- Cheers, NDKilla ( Talk • Contribs ) 15:41, 21 July 2015 (BST)
- @NDKilla: I don't understand, is there a problem? My understanding was that import from another wiki is completely acceptable under CC as the current revision is attributed in the edit history. I have no idea what "bad piggies" is, but I have no desire to waste my time, and I will seriously flip out if I put time into this only to face some kind of backlash. If it is not permitted, then please delete the content or delete the entire wiki, because the entire point of me being here is because I can't stand Wikia. I put a ton of effort into the farming simulator wiki on wikia and decided I wanted to move somewhere where vector is supported and none of the wikia crap exists. I hadn't used the import feature of MW before so didn't realize all the stuff that was getting imported that I don't care about or want, I only want the content I wrote, with the exception of listing specification data from the farming simulator game (which nobody can copyright on a wiki anyway as far as I know, as it's just listing values from a copyrighted game). So, in articles that I didn't write, I'm deleting all the content except for that. Let me tell you, though, if I put in another several thousand edits on this wiki only to get backlash, I will probably lose it. So, please do whatever it takes to get me to a point where I can do this in peace. --Slivicon (talk) 15:50, 21 July 2015 (BST)
- What you said is exactly right. I didn't see any attribution anywhere, sorry if I missed it. If you are only planning on keeping content that you wrote, that is totally okay. Usually you can choose to import only files but I don't know how you got your xml file to import. Bad piggies is a recently created Orain wiki where someone (not the founder) uploaded copyrighted content then got blocked. If you authored the content on wikia and delete content you didn't there shouldn't be any issues. If you want to keep content you didn't author, just attribute it. No problems :) -- Cheers, NDKilla ( Talk • Contribs ) 16:00, 21 July 2015 (BST)
- @NDKilla: my understanding with importing wiki xml and CC was that the attribution is in the edit history, so nothing on the page is needed. I only did an export from Wikia of the most recent revision, maybe that is not adequate, maybe the entire revision history is needed. I'm not interested in putting anything on the pages themselves, so I'd prefer to remove the content from the page if it's a problem, or do a trivial edit and attribute in the edit summary. It shouldn't be an issue, though, as I don't plan on keeping any of the content I didn't write, except for the game specs data for game elements (like I said), and there is a "Specs" template that was originally not designed by me, but I heavily modified it. Should I put a link to the original template in the edit history? --Slivicon (talk) 16:39, 21 July 2015 (BST)

(Reset indent) I just checked the history of several pages and it shows the last revision before import (I think). Were you actually the last user to edit most of the pages? If so no problem. -- Cheers, NDKilla ( Talk • Contribs ) 13:03, 23 July 2015 (BST)
